Dr. Clarence “Benny” Bernard Parent, Jr., born May 5, 1932 to Harriet “Bert” Mader Parent and Clarence Bernard Parent, Sr., stepson of Bertha Cau Parent, was called home to the Lord on August 9, 2017 at 1:30 a.m. He died peacefully in his house on Gentilly Blvd.



A retired dentist in New Orleans, he was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School and Loyola University School of Dentistry. He was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, a member of Beggars Fraternity and Delta Sigma Delta Professional Fraternity, a past Vice President of East New Orleans Lions Club, and a member of St. James Major Catholic Church.



Family includes his loving wife of 61 years, Loretta Dudden Parent; four children, Cindy Parent Mauras (Don), Denise Parent Reuther, the late Benny Parent (Joni), and Robert Parent (Mary); seven grandchildren, Amanda (Chase) and Brittany Reuther (Cody), Jeffrey and Alissa Mauras, Sarah Parent Rosenbloom (James), Bradley and Patrick Parent, and Mallory Parent; great grandchildren, Eli Giroir and Everly and Riker Kuhn and a host of family and friends including siblings Kay Berrigan, Carol Cheramie; deceased Mary Lynn Farnet, Hugh Farnet, Marilyn Farnet and Jackie Farnet.



Benny knitted crab nets, fed birds, fished, hunted, carved pumpkins and taught his children to water ski. He could fix anything and he knew Jesus. He loved his family and friends.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.
