Clarence Asp, age 97, a resident of Hayward, died on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Care Partners in Hayward. Clarence Maurice Asp was born on December 17, 1915, in at home in Gull Lake Township, Washburn County, Wisconsin to parents Albert and Halda (Carlson) Asp. After school, he worked at various neighborhood farms until he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Clarence was inducted in May of 1942 and served until November 1945 serving in the Pacific Theater including the air offensive of Japan, New Guinea, and the liberation of the Southern Philippines. Clarence Maurice Asp was born on December 17, 1915, in at home in Gull Lake Township, Washburn County, Wisconsin to parents Albert and Halda (Carlson) Asp. After school, he worked at various neighborhood farms until he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Clarence was inducted in May of 1942 and served until November 1945 serving in the Pacific Theater including the air offensive of Japan, New Guinea, and the liberation of the Southern Philippines. After his honorable discharge with the rank of Corporal, he found work at the Diamond Tool Company where he worked as a machinist for 30 years until his retirement when he moved back to the Hayward area.

Clarence is survived by his sister Gladys Packer of Frederic, WI, sister in laws, nephews, nieces, and many cousins.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services for Clarence Asp were held on Monday, February 4, 2013, at 1pm, at the Dahl Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Ward officiating. Visitation was held at the Funeral Home on Monday from 11-1pm. Following cremation, he will be interred at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted.
