Craun, Clarence E., 78, passed away March 17, 2016 in Las Vegas, NV. Born in 1937 in Burlington, WI, Clarence was orphaned in childhood. He married Ardith Katherine Priest (Pat) and they moved to Las Vegas in 1973. In that year, they were hired to be the residential caretakers of Saint Anne Parish and Saint Anne Catholic School; this began what would become Clarence’s 43 years of dedicated service at Saint Anne’s. After Clarence’s wife died in 1986, he continued to serve at Saint Anne’s as caretaker, security person, and school crossing guard until illness prevented him from continuing this work late last year. Clarence is survived by his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. And Clarence will always be remembered with love by the hundreds of children, students and alumni of Saint Anne School, his home and his family for 43 years, and by all the priests and the parish, school, and catechetical staff with whom he served. In 1993, through the television show “Unsolved Mysteries”, Clarence was reunited with his brothers and sisters from whom he had been separated 50 years earlier. After that reunion, he would visit his family annually each July. Visitation for Clarence will be Monday, March 28, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM, with Rosary to be prayed at 6 PM, at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Saint Anne Church, 1901 S Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89104, on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10 AM with graveside to follow at Palm Valley View Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123 at Noon. A luncheon for Clarence will be held at the Ghanem Center of Saint Anne School at 1:15 PM following his burial. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clarence’s memory may be made to Saint Anne Catholic School for the Craun Hall school expansion.

Clarence was a devoted individual at Saint Anne School. I remember him as the man who helped me crossed the street from school to church throughout my Saint Anne school years. He will always be remembered.

Clarence not only worked at St. Anne's, He embodied the Spirit of St. Anne's!! We would always talk in the morning, and sometimes we would even stop traffic momentarily while he safely got us across the street. He always had a kind word and an easy smile. His departure from this world is a great loss for all of us who knew him, but he is in Heaven now, where I know He has already gotten his wings. You will be missed Clarence.
