Dear Caroline and all the girls: My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of the death of your husband, father, and my friend, Clare. Lots of fond memories of our times together over the years. He was the last surviving member of the old #12 Grand Rapids Fire Department engine house. Now he and Bob and the others can have fun recalling the "fun" times as well as all the BIG fires. I am at Platte Lake so cannot come for visitation or the funeral, so take a big HUG from me this way. Lovingly Esther Van Hammen

My best memories of my Dad are fishing on the dock at the cottage on Hess Lake in Newaygo. If I actually caught a fish I'd have to swing it over to Dad to take it off the hook because I just couldn't hurt the fish. Thank you Dad for those memories. I Love and Miss You!
