Clark E. Jones, 91, passed away peacefully Monday, September 1, 2014 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 5, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in the Garden of Angels. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Clark was born May 4, 1923 in Childress, Texas to Clarence and Elizabeth (Russell) Jones. He attended West Texas State University before serving as a First Lieutenant during WWII. Clark completed his Bachelor's degree at the University of Texas on the GI Bill. He began his career in advertising after moving to Wichita Falls as the owner of Clark Jones Advertising followed by Wichita Printing Co. and later specialized in free-lance writing and publication layout. Clark's passions were two-fold: Wellness and Word. He was an early pioneer within the wellness movement and served as a living example of the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle. He was a familiar figure on local jogging paths until his late eighties. In his mid-60's, he twice completed the White Rock Marathon. Words were exceptionally important to Clark. The expression of ideas, in both spoken and written form, occupied his time and influenced all who knew and loved him. As a lifelong learner he completed a Master's Degree at MSU in 1986 and continued there as an Adjunct Instructor until his retirement. Clark was past president of Southwest Rotary, 9+ gallon donor American Red Cross, member of the Times and Record News Editorial Board and Senior Sports Steering Committee. Clark was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Chancel Choir and Open Door Class.
Clark is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 52 years, Joan and brother, Russell Jones.
He is survived by his three children, Marshall Jones and wife Cathy, Diane Mayer and Carolyn Lussenhop and husband Chris and 9 grandchildren.
