Winnabow, NC-Claude Henry Benfield, 91, of Supply, NC died Thursday morning, January 16, 2014 at Brunswick Cove Living Center.
He was born September 14, 1922 in Charlotte, NC, a son of the late William and Vada Brackett Benfield and was a member of Harrisburg Presbyterian Church.
A veteran of WWII, he served with the US Army in the European Theatre and was a recipient of a Purple Heart.
A welder by trade, he was retired from Control Southeastern.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Benfield at home, his
four children, Barbara Richardson and Julie McCrary both of Charlotte, NC, Harold Benfield of Mount Holly, NC and Tim Benfield of Myrtle Beach, SC.
A brother, Charles Benfield of Clovis, NM also survives along with 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Graveside services are planned for 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor Tim Bostick officiating.
Funeral services are being handled by McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel.
