Dr. Cleothus Duncan affectionately known as "Duncan" and lovingly known as "brother" to family members. He was a gentle man born on December 5, 1941 in Bessemer, Alabama to Cleothus Duncan, Sr. and Katie Mae Cooper-Duncan - both preceded him in death. In addition he was preceded in death by his siblings Kay Duncan Samuels, William and David Duncan.

As a child Duncan was a very smart and stellar student. He graduated from Raye High School in Youngstown, Ohio. He received his Bachelor and Master's Degree of Science and Engineering from Youngstown State University.

(In 1972, he and a fellow student created a patent for an electric circuit protector which was later sold to the automotive giant General Motors.)

Continuing his thirst for knowledge and desire to make a difference, he earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo. Duncan became a prominent doctor and surgeon of Obstetrics/Gynecology. He completed his residency at Emory University School of Medicine and affiliated hospitals. Over the years, Duncan influenced the lives of many patients at Piedmont Hospital, Crawford Long Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital and Emory- University Hospital, Cleveland Clinic and Mt, Sinai.

Even in semi-retirement, Duncan stayed abreast of current medical studies and research. Even in his death he wanted to continue medical research and helping others by becoming an organ donor.

There were many milestones, but nothing was as special to him as the birth of his son, Eric and daughter, Maria. They were important to him and held a special place in his heart.

A sweet angel became Duncan's life, Sunny. She was not only his wife and companion, but also his heart. Duncan exemplified all the qualities of a gentleman and together they shared a special love.

On May 12, 2010, Duncan entered into eternal rest with his heavenly Father. He leaves to cherish his loving memory -- wife - Sunny Duncan; son - Eric Duncan; daughter - Maria Duncan; step-son- Lamar Leonard; brother- Robert Duncan, sister- Brenda Duncan-Faison; brother-in-law- Howard Faison; granddaughter- Myia Kobie Leonard(whom he lovingly called - Meme Mouse), aunt- Christine Cooper; nieces- Anitra Faison and Dia Caffey; special cousins, Chinella Cooper, James and Yvonne Williams, Pamela Bryant; special friends - Mr. and Mrs. William K. Chester and a host of colleagues who loved him dearly.

"May our Heavenly Father bless you always, Sunny! The poem below reminds us of Duncan, Sunny. ~A Life Well Lived...Lives On." "Do not stand at my grave..." The Davis Family (Johns Creek, GA)
