Cleta Elizabeth Swett passed away very peacefully at her home in Concord, NH on September 11, 2017, one day before her 91st birthday with her children Melody and David by her side.
Cleta was born in Morristown, TN, September 12, 1926 to William Thomas and Essie Gladis Collins. She attended the Rose School and worked for many years at the Charles Department Store before meeting her beloved husband John H. Swett whom she was married to for 48 years. After their wedding the couple moved to New England where they lived in various towns before settling in Concord. Cleta worked as an office clerk for the E.D. Swett, Inc. bridge construction company and later at Dewey School in Concord, N.H. as a librarian.
Cleta was a member of the West Congregational Church Fellowship for many years and was an active member of the We-Co-Acs and Reception and Bazaar Committee at the church. She was also a member of the Merrimack County Extension Group.
In her later years she enjoyed gardening and being with her animals as well as spending time with her grandchildren who adored her.
Cleta was predeceased by her half brothers and sisters: Lewis Collins, Charlie Collins, Frank Collins, Earl Collins, Nancy Collins Hayes, Annie Collins Spires and her brothers and sisters: Carroll Collins, Raymond Collins, Herman Collins, Lee Collins, Pauline Collins, Alva Collins Harville.
Cleta is survived by her daughter Melody Joy Spear and son-in-law David Spear of Eugene, OR, their children (her beloved grandchildren) Linde and Junie Spear, son David Thomas Swett of Concord, NH, niece Linda and her husband Joe Davis of Morristown, TN, niece Sandra Hunt of Morristown, TN, niece Rhonda Matthews of Morristown, TN., sister Ruth Collins Smith White of Knoxville, TN, friends Francis (Tuggy) and Curtis Williams Morristown, TN, Reta Matthews-Chaffee MacGregor, Goffstown, NH. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
There will be a private graveside service in Morristown, TN.

Cleta was just the sweetest person. She had many dear friends who enjoyed her company and shared their stories. Her home was open to all. She will be missed by family and friends. Betty Hoadley

I'm sincerely sorry for the death of Cleta. It appears she was a dog person and that is lovely. Cleta will always be in the heart of many, especially friends and loved one. Prayers will be made for the loved ones to maintain their strength (1 Corinthians 15:54)
