Obituary

Clifford "Cliff" Eugene Betterton, Sr., 75, of the Lake of the Ozarks, passed away November 23, 2012. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at noon at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be from 10:30-noon preceding the service at the Funeral Home. Interment with Honors will be held in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Clifford "Cliff" Eugene Betterton, Sr., 75, of the Lake of the Ozarks, passed away November 23, 2012. Cliff was born April 25, 1937 in Preston, Nebraska to Gilbert and Cecelia Betterton. He grew up in Valley Falls, and then moved to Lawrence with his family. Cliff and his wife Marian met in Tonganoxie and moved to Lawrence, Kansas after their marriage and later moved to Kansas City, Kansas until retirement in 1997 and moved to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. He worked for General Motors for 26.5 years, was a member of the Local UAW 93, and after the plant closed in 1988, he worked for Paul's Rod & Bearing. Cliff was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and an active member and officer of the Knights of Columbus, Marion Council. He served in the Army during peacetime, he enjoyed playing and later watching football and basketball, he restored furniture, playing practical jokes and he loved his family (especially his grandkids) more than anything. Cliff was loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, his step-father and mother, Charles and Cecelia Betterton Sweezey as well as his in-laws, John and Mildred Sparks of Tonganoxie.
Cliff is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marian Betterton of the home; children, Clifford Betterton, Jr., of the home, Michael Betterton and wife Deborah of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Teresa Williams and husband Kevin of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Jessica Sandoval and husband Julio, Joshua Betterton and wife Kiersten, Michelle Betterton and Leann Williams; great-grandchildren, Jade Trujillo, Gabe Hughes and Gavin Sandoval; brother Gilbert Betterton, sister Maryetta Glassel, as well as many other family members and friends.
