Clyde grew up in south Everett. He could often be found working at his dad's gas station, one of the first in the area along dirt-packed Highway 99. Clyde attended Wilson Elementary, Rose Hill Junior High, and graduated from Everett High School in 1953. He earned the God and Country Award as a scout. He excelled in music and was known as the "Young Man with the Horn" in high school. He loved playing his trumpet beside the juke box at various clubs in Everett, which is probably how he picked up his pool-shark skills. He also loved playing tennis.
After a short time at University of Washington he enlisted in the Air Force. Upon returning from his service he was hired at Boeing and retired in 1995 after 37 years of employment.
He was a great husband, dad, and grandpa. At times he was too stern or too practical but he always made up for that by having fun on trips, boating, waterskiing, hiking, and helping his kids with projects.
Clyde is survived by his loving wife Betty of 52 years; his children Tammy Grafe (Cory), Kim Dahlquist (Steve), and Tom Stallings; his grandchildren Mckensie, Madison, Reilly, Connor, Kate, and his 4-legged companion Bess. We will miss him so much.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 13 at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood, Washington at 1:00.
