Collin E. Gilman, age 70, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 17, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family and beloved dogs. Collin was born April 8, 1942 in Rhinelander. He leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years Carol Gilman. Family was everything to Collin and he will be greatly missed by his sons; Mark, Russell, Joe (Renee) and Tony (Maggie) Gilman. "Daughter" Brenda Hoffhein-Peter. Brother Bob Gilman. Collin was born April 8, 1942 in Rhinelander. He leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years Carol Gilman. Family was everything to Collin and he will be greatly missed by his sons; Mark, Russell, Joe (Renee) and Tony (Maggie) Gilman. "Daughter" Brenda Hoffhein-Peter. Brother Bob Gilman. Grandchildren Ryan Gilman, Rashelle Karow (Nathan), Keaton Gilman, Olivea Gilman, Autumn Gilman, Kaleb Gilman, Chloe Gilman. Great Grandaughter Jersey Gilman and many other family and friends.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War and member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, Collin was honorably discharged from the US Army with various awards including a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Air Medal for meritorious services.
Always up for a challenge Collin owned and operated many small businesses including The Old Brick Inn and The Pied Piper where he built wonderful relationships with both the public and his employees. Collin also fulfilled his love for traveling by owning and operating his own Fun Time Coaches bus service and Gilman trucking company.
Collin was preceded in death by his mother Viola Meisler, father Malvern Meisler, sister Joyce Richter, brother-in-laws George Hoffhein and James Keso, sister-in-law Jean Gilman.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 5:00pm at Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home with Deacon Mike Harvey officiating. Visitation will from 3:00pm until the time of service. A memorial has been established in Collin's name and may be direct to the family. Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home, 715-365-4343 is assisting the family with arrangements.
