Colvo Haskell "Tony" Miller, 93, left on his next journey on Tuesday, December 17, 2013.

Cryptsideservices are scheduled at Masonic Mausoleum, Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Saturday, December 21, 2013, 11 a.m.

Mr. Miller, son of the late Thomas Tillman Miller and Ella Mae Lutrell Miller, was born in Jonesborough, TN on December 27, 1919. He was a graduate of Lamar High School. Staff Sergeant Miller joined the Army in 1940. He served in the Pacific in WW-II as a member of the Army's 503d Parachute Regimental Combat Team, making combat jumps at the islands Noemfoor in Dutch New Guinea and Corregidor in the Philippines. Staff Sergeant Miller was recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service in the Pacific. Making more than 600 jumps during the course of his career, he earned qualifications as both Master Rigger and Master Parachutist and was certified in Aerial Delivery. He retired from the Army at Fort Benning in 1965. His active duty career was followed by a Civil Service career at Benning's Engineer Center where he retired for the second time in 1980. Tony had the distinction of being a 54-year 32nddegree Scottish Rite Mason and was long involved in the Shriners' Hospitals for Children program. He was a Past Worthy Patron of Fort Benning Chapter 278 of Order of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Miller has been a Columbus resident since the 1950's. He is preceded in death by wife Gladys, four brothers and four sisters. Mr. Miller is survived by wife Fran; daughter, Norma Jean (Bill) Huesmann; son, Ronald H. (Dianne) Miller; stepson, Trip (Teresa) Tomlinson; stepdaughter, Lynn (Jon) Harris; grandsons, Michael Cass and Ronald H. (Courtney) Miller Jr.; great grandsons Riley Cass and Evan Miller; and sister Pauline Archer (Billy) Phillips. He also leaves behind his beloved pets "Dolly" and "Bebe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org); Columbus Hospice (www.columbushospice.com); Shriners Childrens Hospitals (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org) or PAWS of Columbus
(www.pawshumane.org). Condolences may be offered at www.shcolumbus.com.
