He was born in El Paso, Texas, on the 16th of January 1917. He graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Civil Engineering, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Texas Aggie Band. He married Patricia Quinn on the 12th of May 1943 at Trinity Church.

A member for over 65 years, he served Trinity Episcopal Church as an usher and member of the Endowment Board.
He is preceded in death by his parents,Pete and Effie Philora Hinshaw; and his wife of 54 years, Patricia, who died in 1997. He is survived by his daughter, Constance, and son-in-law Lawrence Brown.
