Conrad H. McEachern, Jr., 81, of Dallas, TX passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born in Shreveport, LA on July 19, 1933 to Mr. & Mrs. C. H. McEachern, Sr. of Vivian, LA. He graduated Vivian High School before attending college at Washington & Lee University and L.S.U. He earned a B.A. and pledged the DKE fraternity. Conrad H. McEachern, Jr., 81, of Dallas, TX passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all that knew and loved him.
He was born in Shreveport, LA on July 19, 1933 to Mr. & Mrs. C. H. McEachern, Sr. of Vivian, LA. He graduated Vivian High School before attending college at Washington & Lee University and L.S.U. He earned a B.A. and pledged the DKE fraternity.
From the time he was a boy, he dreamed of flying. He earned his wings in the Air Force. Later, he served with the Louisiana Air National Guard in New Orleans. Conrad joined American Airlines in 1965 and flew 28 years as an international Captain and Check Airman. He mentored many young pilots and was an advocate for Vietnam POW airmen. In retirement, he enjoyed flying his Cessna 182 based at Addison Airport for pleasure trips and Angel Flight missions.
Conrad embodied integrity, loyalty, and leadership. He was a Louisiana boy at heart, and was known for his passion for flying, the LSU Tigers, Old Fashioned cocktails, Hank Williams and always enjoying a "Bons Temps Rouler."
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Carol McEachern; son Conrad H. McEachern, III and his wife Cristina; daughter Catherine McEachern; and granddaughter Elliot.
A Memorial Service will be held at HP United Methodist Church on Monday, August 25th, 2014 at 1:00pm. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Sparkman/Hillcrest, 7405 W northwest Hwy. Dallas, TX 75225. Memorials may be made to Angel Flight, L.S.U. or the charity of your choice.
