Beloved mother and friend, Coralie Duval passed away on June 5, 2014 in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by her family. She was born Coralie Ann Nelson on March 16, 1930 to Nels and Coralie Snell Nelson of Astoria, Oregon. She attended Lincoln High School in Portland and the University of Oregon, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Foreign Languages. She was recruited by the Department of Defense and moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked as a translator and met and married Richard Duval. The couple returned to Portland where Coralie started a long and satisfying career as a clerk/bailiff in the Multnomah County courts. In her retirement years, she enjoyed the pleasures of family, friends, gardening, cooking, and volunteerism.

Coralie nurtured a life-long passion for music and the arts. As a university student, she participated in the Junior Year in France program, studying French literature, culture, and history at the Sorbonne in Paris. An accomplished pianist herself, she was also an enthusiast of the Oregon Symphony and Portland Opera. She served as a volunteer usher with Chamber Music Northwest for many years.

Coralie was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Richard Duval. She is survived by sons Richard (Kitty), Robert (Patty), Donald, Leonard (Barbara), John (Jill), and Joseph (Romy), thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was interred at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in a private ceremony. A memorial service will be held at West Hills Friends Church on July 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Coralie's name to Chamber Music Northwest, 522 SW 5th Ave # 920, Portland, OR 97204.
