Obituary

Dana Ray Gruell, 49, of Kokomo, died Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the home of his mother where he had been recuperating from an accident. A Connersville native, Dana was born March 21, 1963, the youngest of three sons of Bobbie L. and Shirley Ann Meek Gruell. In 1981, he graduated from Connersville High School and entered the U.S. Navy. His four years of military service were based in Jacksonville, Florida. Dana most recently had been employed at Delphi in Kokomo as a computer technician. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and will be sorely missed by his family. Dana Ray Gruell, 49, of Kokomo, died Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the home of his mother where he had been recuperating from an accident.

A Connersville native, Dana was born March 21, 1963, the youngest of three sons of Bobbie L. and Shirley Ann Meek Gruell. In 1981, he graduated from Connersville High School and entered the U.S. Navy. His four years of military service were based in Jacksonville, Florida. Dana most recently had been employed at Delphi in Kokomo as a computer technician. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and will be sorely missed by his family. Dana loved his family, riding his Harley motorcycle and his cats.

Dana is survived by his Mother: Shirley A. Gruell of Connersville; two brothers: Jeffrey L. Gruell of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mark A. Gruell of Greensburg; his Aunt: Betty Jo Hofmann of Oxford, Ohio; his great-Aunt; Inez Maple of Connersville; and several cousins.

Dana is preceded in death by his father, his maternal grandparents: Corinne Hammer and Dale S. Meek; his paternal grandparents: Theodore and Thelma Gruell.

Public graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dale Cemetery with Pastor Mal Gibson of the First Baptist Church officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council. There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1211 N. Grand Avenue, Connersville. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
