Dana Seavey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 22, 2016.

Dana Ray Seavey, 49, of Canaan, passed away at the Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, Saturday, August 20, 2016 as the result of a tragic accident at his home.
He was born on August 7, 1967 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Wallace A. and Lorene (Caswell) Seavey.
After graduating from Skowhegan Area High School in the class of 1985, Dana worked on a farm in Vermont with his brother Myron. They eventually returned to Maine and operated their farm in North Anson. He worked ten years as a herdsman at the Wright Place Farm in Clinton. He was always a hard worker.
His passion was the love for the horseman world. After recently attending the World Percheron Congress in Springfield, Massachusetts, he shared that experience with his fellow draft horsemen upon his return. From the exposure at an early age of being around horses and fellow horsemen he was well respected for his talent. Dana enjoyed attending fairs with his father since he was young and in the later years he pulled his own horses. When he had a pair of reins in his hands he was in his element.
Dana was currently the President of the Maine Farmers Draft Horse, Mule and Pony Club accepting the position with sincerity and moving forward prestigiously.
He was a pleasant and caring man, knew many people and always greeted folks with a smile. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was the loving father to his two children, Tyler Richard Seavey and Tayler Paige Seavey both of Canaan. He is also survived by his brothers, Raymond Seavey and his wife Dolly of Madison, Wallace Seavey Jr. of Canaan, Myron Seavey and his wife Faylene of North Anson; his sisters, Carol Seely and her husband Daniel of Virginia, Janice Theriault of Wisconsin, Karen Dickerson and her husband Gary of Kentucky; he also leaves the mother of his children, Karen Clark of Canaan; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Wayne Allen Seavey and his sister-in-law Catherine Burns and several aunts and uncles.
Viewing hours will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Canaan, Maine.
Donations may be made in his memory to a fund set up to help his children, C/O Pam Clark, 94 Moores Mill Rd., Canaan, Maine 04924 or to the Maine Farmers Draft Horse, Mule and Pony Club, 36 Hideaway Dr., Sidney, Maine 04330

Your parents were pretty cool about our pigs running amuk in your garden. Was cool waiting for the bus with you being next door and all, you learning us 'city kids' new things about country life. Later running into you & our collective sidekicks at the local watering holes. Our Reggae crew has lost a beaming smile, man you brightened the room! Seems like the world isn't as sunny as it was before this. You're sorely missed. My utmost condolences to your entire family and circles.
