A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Thelma Alberty Strickland. She retired from Wesley Long Community Hospital in 1999, after 40 years of service, where she was respected by co-workers and the medical staff.
Family and friends were touched by the courageous way in which she handled her illness, never complaining, and always planning a project for the next day. When asked about her illness, she would reply, "I am blessed and do not have any problems". She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas B. (Ick) Morgan, sister, Frances Strickland Vincent, brother, David Conrad Strickland, step-son Steven Dane Morgan.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Abby Morgan Morton (Don) of Kernersville; sister, Marlene Strickland Bailey (Kenneth) of Burnsville, NC; step-son, Scott Morgan (Susie) of Greensboro; grandson, Hunter Douglas Morton of Kernersville; niece, Lisa Van de Water of Hurricane, Utah; nephew, David Vincent of Payton, Utah, and six step-grandchildren.
