Darma H. Allen, our beloved mother, sister and aunt passed away on January 10th 2014, she was 84 years old. Darma was born on July 12th 1929 in Franklin, Idaho to Enos and Hazel Holden. She was the 7th of 12 children. Darma who was known fondly as "Mickey" was raised on a ranch in Idaho and moved to Salt Lake City after graduating from Preston High School. She was involved in various social organizations including the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #71 with her husband James L. Allen whom she married on July 23rd 1949. Mickey was always a high energy, fun loving, on-the go character that once you had met, you would never forget. She always had a comical saying or a rebuttal that would leave you in stitches and she was generous to a fault, always willing to help someone down on their luck. Mickey owned and ran the "White Spot Café" for several years located on 3300 S. 900 E. which became a favorite local hangout, famous as much for Mickey as for the menu. In later years Mickey became a dedicated live-in caregiver for elderly women. Mickey is survived by her daughter Debra Allen, sisters Lyola Workman, Lorraine Ross, Sharon Ann Estes and brother Delbert Holden as well as numerous nephews and nieces; including the family of Brad and Paula Allen whose privilege it was to care for Mickey as a labor of love for the past several years. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Allen, parents Enos and Hazel Holden, brothers Willis (Bill), Milo, Reed Holden, and Howard C. Holden, sisters Alta Wells, Lorna Richardson and Fay Prichard. The family would like to especially thank the Sunrise Senior Living Reminiscence staff for their loving care of Mickey these last two years.Funeral services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 S. Highland Dr. Salt Lake City, UT 84106 on Friday Jan. 17th at 11:00 am. Viewing Thursday night 6-8 pm and one hour prior to funeral. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/saltlaketribune/obituary.aspx?n=darma-h-allen-mickey&;pid=169098444&fhid=11609#sthash.GBIxgrnz.dpufArrangements under the direction of Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, Salt Lake City, UT.
