Darrel Sielsky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 8, 2013.

Darrel L Sielsky was born January 23rd 1941 in Leadville Colorado to David and Evelyn Sielsky. Darrel had an older sister named Darlene. He attended high school in Burlington Colorado and lettered in football and baseball. He wrestled and was a lifeguard. Darrel learned to weld at a very young age because his Father owned a blacksmith shop. After graduation he joined the army as a welder with his buddy Joe Baber. While serving in the Army he traveled to Germany and other countries. When he returned from the Army he met and married Kathleen Moser and together they had three children Danny, Wayne and Julie. His children gave him three wonderful grandchildren Kaci, Justin and Jesse.
He worked at Coors for 34 years. He started as a welder and was promoted up to a supervisor of the fabrication shop. He was a very loyal employee and his great work ethics were passed down to his children. He retired when he was 55 years old. Darrel always provided very well for his family. He enjoyed taking them on many vacations, camping and fishing. He was a very supportive dad. He would allow you to make mistakes but would always be there to guide you in the right direction. He was strong but gentle. He encouraged his children to participate in any sports or interests they had.
He was the best Grandpa Ever! He attended all of his Grandchildren's sporting events; plays etc. and He enjoyed videotaping them. He loved to share his knowledge and skills with his grandchildren. He enjoyed teaching them how to fish, weld and fix things.
Darrel had back surgery when he was 55 years old. 15 years later he needed to have heart surgery and another back surgery. He also suffered from COPD, congestive heart failure, and neuropathy. Darrel was an extremely strong person and dealt with all of his unpleasant health problems very well. He didn't give up and was very determined to keep going no matter how bad he felt. He kept a great attitude until the very end and he never complained. It did bother him to ask for help because he was so independent.
Darrel was a great fisherman and loved to camp. He was very reliable, handy, and mechanically inclined. He was creative and would invent many things such as the trailer for his electric wheelchair that he used while doing yard work. He was always available when you needed him. He was a good planner and organizer. He was an excellent husband for 49 years. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and keeping an excellent yard. He always had to be busy fixing things.
We are all going to miss his wonderful Polish sense of humor, and positive attitude. He was truly an amazing man. We will remember him and keep him in our hearts every day. We know he will continue to guide us through our journey until we meet again.

I am so sorry to hear that Darrel has gone. I remember my cousin as the strong, good looking young man who appears in the photos. Even at that young age, he was a fine example to me when we were young. I always wanted to be like him. He was beloved then and still is today, so many years later. His family was very lucky indeed! His Mom and Dad were very wonderful people and that genuine warmth was passed down through the generations. God be with you all!
Wish I could be there with you.

I worked for Coors for 37 years and knew Darrel throughout a number of those years. He was a man loved by everyone that I knew. As a fellow employee he was more of an aquaintance and a friend. Darrel always had the time to chat with you and always said hi. I just simply remember him as a happy productive worker. He was a person who made working at Coors fun!

Sincerely and with regrets,

Darrel will be missed by all who knew him. Former friends from Burlington all had a great respect for him and considered him a friend. He was fun to be around and was always smiling and enjoyed being with his friends. I will have good memories of the good times we had playing ball and meeting for lunch etc. in these past years!

My thoughts are with all of Darrel's family at this time. Enjoyed celebrating Darrel's life through the photo album, bringing back memories of fun times that Darrel and I spent together when we both lived in Denver back to childhood when we played together--six of us Hoza-related cousins! He was a great cousin,a big tease, a kind person. Sorry that we lost touch, but I cherish memories of the times we spent together.
