Darrell Eugene England, 89, of Southport, North Carolina, formerly of Elkview, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Dosher Nursing Center in Southport, North Carolina. Darrell was born at Blue Creek. He spent 10 years working at E.I. DuPont in Belle and then retired from Union Carbide with over 20 years of service. He was a member of the Town Creek Baptist Church in Leland, North Carolina and also the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Elkview. Darrell served his county during World War II in the U. S. Navy. Darrell Eugene England, 89, of Southport, North Carolina, formerly of Elkview, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Dosher Nursing Center in Southport, North Carolina.





Darrell was born at Blue Creek. He spent 10 years working at E.I. DuPont in Belle and then retired from Union Carbide with over 20 years of service. He was a member of the Town Creek Baptist Church in Leland, North Carolina and also the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Elkview. Darrell served his county during World War II in the U. S. Navy.





He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Hazel Marie England; and his mother, Helen Moles England.





Darrell is survived by his daughter, Deloris Carte of Winnabow, North Carolina; granddaughter, Kelli Edens of Southport, North Carolina; grandson, Darrell Edens of Charleston, South Carolina; and great-grandson, Cody Wiley of Southport.





The funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2014, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Lee Swor officiating. The burial with military graveside rites will follow the service in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.





Family and friends will gather for the visitation on hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
