Family and friends of David Pearson, I did not know Mr. Pearson, but I did want to briefly reach out. I was descending the Angles Landing Trail with my son and several other hikers the afternoon of 14 June when we were stopped by a Park Ranger due to the medical emergency. We watched as Zion Search & Rescue tried to save his life. Eventually the crowd on the little trail grew to perhaps 150 people as more and more hikers descended. Generally, the descent of a difficult hike such as Angels Landing is festive, but on this day, as word filtered through the crowd, there was a great silence and complete show of respect for a fellow hiker. Once the Ranger gave us the go-ahead, we all walked together in humble silence the remainder of the way. My son and I prayed for peace for the family that evening. I'm very sorry for your loss.
