David Charles Lindley, 67, passed away on May 15, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born on July 1, 1949 in Henderson, Kentucky to Charles Boyce and Mildred Lee (Williams) Lindley. David was affectionately known as "Big Dave". He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He married the love of his life, Rosalie Cheek on September 9, 1988. They welcomed each other's children.
David was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He was hardworking, a man of integrity that enjoyed carpentry work, smoking his cigars, and watching his favorite OU football team. He also enjoyed listening to country music, playing his guitar, singing, and taking cruises. David was the type of person that even if he wasn't "at work"; he was working on something in his garage. He freely gave of his time to family and neighbors doing all kinds of different projects. He was kind, friendly and never met a stranger. He made friends anywhere he went.
David adored spending time with his children and grandchildren. His greatest love was his family; he always put family first.
He will be greatly missed and always remembered by his wife of 31 years, Rosalie; parents, Mildred Mullen and her husband, James, father, Charles Lindley and his wife, Della; children, Michael Lindley and his wife, Katherine, Michelle Lindley; stepchildren, Clint Vincent and his wife, Kimberly, Jerry Vincent and his wife, Leah, Angel Vincent; nine grandchildren, Chloe, Corban, Aiden, Addyson, Scarlett, Xander, Alida, Keegan, Kenna, and a host of relatives and friends.

Rosie all I can say is I'm sorry I know you will miss the love of your life. Just remember this it will hurt for a while and you will always miss him and it will get better. Then when least expected something will come floating by and you will say hey Big Dave did you see that and then go on what you were doing.
Love you
Donna

I remember David from elementary school in midwest city at Ridgecrest elementary. Of course David was the star of our basketball team all the way thur high school. Seems to me coach Francis Boring gave David the nickname "Big Boy" and that's what he always called him. So sorry for the families loss. Now David knows all the answers to the mysteries of the universe.

Big Dave was as good as they come....I loved him with all my heart. He was my brother in law for sure, but was more than that too. Big Dave was always looking after me like his little sis and I could tell him anything and everything!!He was a true friend. He was so funny and SO honest!!! He would say exactly what he thought and that's why he and my sister Rosie made such a perfect pair...I loved to hear them jab playfully at each other. Big was a talented singer and guitar player.....I loved hearing him play his Meryl Haggard songs......He was always the center of all our family gatherings.......we all loved Dave, and it definitely won't be the same without him around. Every time I walked to heir door, I could see Big Dave at the end of the hallway sitting in his recliner and it hurts me to think he won't be there anymore. I'm so lucky to have had him in my life and I miss him already.

To the entire family of David, I extend my most profound sympathy and prayers. David was my second cousin which our lives went in different directions and unfortunately we lost contact for all of our later years. I only remember him as a very young boy. David's mother, Mildred, is my first cousin and I'll always remember the summer of 1959 when I got to visit the family in Hawaii. I was almost 17 and David was 10 and we had a big time taking in all the sights of the island. I regret that we never got to spend time together as adults but we were always in different places. My deepest sympathy to all of the family. Gwenda VanMeter Chesser

There are so many memories of this entire family. Big Dave always had a smile and willing to help during our cars being broke down and so on. Although I have not had contact with the family for many years, my memories of all the time we spent together, and the things we did together, and the work we shared, will be always treasured. My prayers will be for each of you.
