David Elwood "Sonny" Bullard, Jr., 88, of Liberty passed away from this earth peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
Sonny led a full and interesting life. As a teenager he started working for Loflin Funeral Home, then joined the US Navy in 1945 and returned in 1949 and continued to work for the funeral home. He went on to work for Moore-Gardner & Associates as a civil engineer and a corporate pilot. He continued his career in aviation with Causey Aviation in Asheboro as Airport Manager. In 1995 he became the Town Manager for the Town of Liberty. After retiring he worked part time with Greensboro Coliseum as an usher and ticket taker. He had a great love for his family, flying and collecting arrowheads.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at his home.
He was the son of the late David Elwood Bullard, Sr. and Mabel Clare Primm Bullard and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline Vernon Bullard and his sister, Judy Villanti.
Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Jane Moser Bullard of the home; children, Dawn Stanley (James) of Oak Ridge, David Bullard (Meredith) of Advance, Joseph Bullard (Andrea) of Seven Lakes and Audrey Bullard of Liberty; and grandchildren, Mason, Alayna, Henleigh, Owen, Julia and number 6 on the way.
