David Hayes, 69, Kansas City, passed away Sept 3, 2016. David was born April 23, 1947 in The Dalles, OR to William and Evelyn Hayes. After school, he joined the US Army, had three tours of duty in Viet Nam and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He then became an Army Recruiter, eventually stationed in Kansas City, earning many awards, including Top Recruiter in the Country.
David was an avid golfer and fisherman who also loved cheering for the Royals and Chiefs. Most of all, he was deeply devoted to his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Douglas Hayes and Timothy Hayes, son Dan Hayes and step-son Albert Bratton. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bratton-Hayes, daughter Leslie Barry, step-daughter Gina Bratton-Marrs, step-sons David Bratton and Dennis Bratton, sister Wilma Cureton, 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Private services are scheduled with burial, including military honors, at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
