David Peter Schafer was born January 13, 1944 in Jackson, Michigan and passed away March 12, 2015 at the age of 71. David spent his life in Michigan, Indiana, Texas, and Florida. Family life was important to him. He was the loving father of five children, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. David had three brothers, and eleven nieces and nephews. David easily made friends, and always enjoyed a social get together. He made his career as a computer programmer in the electrical utility and oil and gas industries. He was a sport enthusiast, and coached his sons in football, baseball, basketball, and soccer. David enjoyed everything the outdoors had to offer, and one of his favorite activities was driving his boat on Lake Livingston in northeast Texas. He moved to Florida after his retirement, and continued to enjoy time outdoors with Rosa and his family. David is survived by his wife Rosa; his children, Scott and Michelle Schafer, Russ and Laura Schafer, Julie and Brad McMahan, Camille and Matt Stoeberl, and Matt and Brandie Schafer; step children, Albert Henry, Patricia Henry, Rick Henry, Linda Henry, Jimmy Henry, and Dennis Henry; grandchildren, Courtney Alexander, Jessie Schafer, Trevor Schafer, Hailey McMahan, Kindall McMahan, Zachary Stoeberl, Sydney Stoeberl, Mallory Stoeberl, Landon Schafer, Gavin Schafer, Samuel Schafer and Noah Schafer; great grandchildren, Zayden Williams and Zyler Williams; brothers, Jerry and Suzie Schafer, Bob and Mary Schafer and Donnie and Susie Schafer. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 2:30pm at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Rd. Conroe, Texas 77303 with Father Oscar Dubon ministering.
