David R Volturno aka "Turtle" 61, of Newtown, CT passed away peacefully on September 6, 2017 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
David was born in Bridgeport on November 12, 1955. He was a graduate of Central High School. He played varsity football where he was named to the All State team. David was an avid football fan, especially loyal to the NY Jets. He loved watching his Sunday football with family and friends. David enjoyed and excelled at skiing. He skied at various mountains throughout the United States. He was always happy to have a good meal. David never refused food. His mother in law's Italian cooking always brought a smile to his face. He was a true family man. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was so proud to be the father of triplets, and sharing quality time with them. David enjoyed to be around his family and friends at any and all social functions. He loved a good party and boating (Especially, on Labor Day!) David was always willing and ready to help his friends and family, no matter what the circumstances. He cared about the welfare of all family members, both immediate and extended family. He was a member of Laborers Local 665 for 25 years and owner of Volturno's Landscaping. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving family David, Michael, Gina and Joann, and his devoted friends Kenny and Diane Distefano. David is preceded by his parents Frank and Marie Volturno, and brother Joey. He is survived by his sister Laura Fleischer, and a number of nephews and nieces. Calling hours are Sunday, September 10th, from 1 to 4 pm at Spadaccino Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe CT followed by a pray service at 4:00pm. David's family wishes to thank his caregivers from Newtown Masonicare-Unit 2B for their dedicated care and compassion. Especially, during his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to David's children's "Education Fund". Contributions should be made out to Michael, David and Gina Volturno. If mailing a contribution, please send to: C/O- Diane DiStefano, 22 Christianna Dr. Monroe, CT 06468.

Dave was one of the first people we met when we moved to Monroe. He was our landscaper for many years and always treated us well. I will never forget the look on his face when he shared the news that Joann was expecting triplets. And when Michael, David and Gina were born, he was beaming. He was so proud. Sending our sincere condolences and prayers for peace at this tough time.
