David Ray Lee, 79, peacefully passed away on Thursday (August 10, 2017) at Mountain Home VA Medical Center in Johnson City, TN surrounded by family and friends.

Known to family and friends as David, Ray, Daddy, and Papaw, he was born November 18, 1937 in Smithfield, NC. Ray was a US Army veteran having been a paratrooper and member of the 82nd Airborne division and was stationed at Fort Bragg NC, Fort Benning GA, with active military service spent in Germany and Korea. After leaving the military, he worked in the field of telecommunications and retired from Nortel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou & Roby Lee of Four Oaks; his wife, Joyce Parrish Lee; and his brother, Donnie Lee of Clayton, NC.
David and Joyce were the parents of five children: Teresa Lee Mains, Bluff City, TN; Brookie Lee Davenport, Blountville, TN; David Lee and wife, Lori, Murrieta, CA; Greg Lee, Des Moines, Iowa and Dan Lee of Nashville, TN. He was also the grandfather and great-grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

David is also thankful for the companionship of Polly Lee of Georgia; close buddy and best friend, Jimmy Mains of Blountville, TN; and his special fur baby, his dog, Lady.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday (August 13, 2017) at 2:30 p.m. Blountville Christian Church (1680 Blountville Blvd., Blountville, TN 37617).

Committal services will be held immediately following the service at Gunning's Cemetery (4851 TN-126, Blountville, TN). Military rites will be provided by American Legion Posts 3/265.
