Obituary

David, 82, of South Daytona passed away peacefully on June 27, 2014 after a brief illness. David was born in Wisconsin, but lived most of his life in Northern Illinois until moving to South Daytona, FL in 1994. David retired from the Laborers' Union Local 32 where he did concrete construction work for many years. David served in the US Army, 1951-1953, as part of the 188th Support Company of the 11th Airborne Infantry Regiment. He was an avid motorcyclist both in his youth and later years. He was a Life Member of the American Motorcycle Association. David was one of the founding supporters of the White Plate Flat Trackers Association....
David, 82, of South Daytona passed away peacefully on June 27, 2014 after a brief illness. David was born in Wisconsin, but lived most of his life in Northern Illinois until moving to South Daytona, FL in 1994. David retired from the Laborers' Union Local 32 where he did concrete construction work for many years. David served in the US Army, 1951-1953, as part of the 188th Support Company of the 11th Airborne Infantry Regiment. He was an avid motorcyclist both in his youth and later years. He was a Life Member of the American Motorcycle Association. David was one of the founding supporters of the White Plate Flat Trackers Association. He raced as a professional motorcyclist during the late 1950's through the early 1960's. In 1962 and 1963 he raced in the Daytona 200. He was also a supporter of the National Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame. Along with his passion for motorcycles, David owned collectible show cars. His favorites included a 1966 Corvette convertible and a 1967 Chevy RS/SS Camaro. His favorite pass-time was attending car shows with his friends. David is survived by his wife, Michele who he was married to for 39 years. Survivors also include his two daughters, Carol (Jack) Cloud of St. George, UT and Suzanne (David) Ramey of Mineral Bluff, GA. One grandaughter, Taylor Cloud of Seattle, WA.

The viewing will be held at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris, Port Orange, on Tuesday, July 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Wednesday, July 2 at 12:30p.m.
