David Monroe Baker Jr, 70, of 134 Third Ave West, Danville, passed away on November 13, 2016. He was born in Danville, Va on July 30, 1946 to David Monroe Baker, Sr and Vickie Peeler Townsend. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father Leon Townsend. He is survived by his mother, Vickie Peeler Townsend of Danville; longtime companion, Marcia Robertson of Danville; son, Brett Robertson of Danville; daughters, Christie B Reed (Kenny) of Blairs, Kim Robertson of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Dianne Rodgers of Kure Beach NC, Cheryl T. Coleman (Tommy) of Naperville, IL, Meryl T. Worley (Ron) of Fort Myers, FL;...
David Monroe Baker Jr, 70, of 134 Third Ave West, Danville, passed away on November 13, 2016. He was born in Danville, Va on July 30, 1946 to David Monroe Baker, Sr and Vickie Peeler Townsend.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father Leon Townsend.

He is survived by his mother, Vickie Peeler Townsend of Danville; longtime companion, Marcia Robertson of Danville; son, Brett Robertson of Danville; daughters, Christie B Reed (Kenny) of Blairs, Kim Robertson of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Dianne Rodgers of Kure Beach NC, Cheryl T. Coleman (Tommy) of Naperville, IL, Meryl T. Worley (Ron) of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Hannah Reed, Grayson Reed, Trevor Robertson, and Caleb Robertson.

Mr. Baker was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 32 years until his retirement.

Mr. Baker attended Moffett Memorial Baptist Church. He served in the Army National Guard. He lived his entire life in Danville and loved hunting. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and collector.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016, at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, with Reverend Lee Ellison officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Danville Life Saving Crew or Moffett Memorial Baptist Church.
