Obituary

Mr. David Cate, 63, of Van Buren, died Saturday, June 18 in a local hospital. He was an Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, a member of Concord Baptist Church, and was a retired Assistant Chief of Police for the Van Buren Police Department after 30 years. Funeral service will be at 10 am Tuesday, June 21, in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. He is survived by his wife Brenda, of the home, a daughter Laura Gunter and her husband Steve of Van Buren, a son Brian Cate and his wife...
Mr. David Cate, 63, of Van Buren, died Saturday, June 18 in a local hospital. He was an Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, a member of Concord Baptist Church, and was a retired Assistant Chief of Police for the Van Buren Police Department after 30 years.

Funeral service will be at 10 am Tuesday, June 21, in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife Brenda, of the home, a daughter Laura Gunter and her husband Steve of Van Buren, a son Brian Cate and his wife Kelley of Midwest City, OK, a brother Lee Rae Cate of Van Buren, and five grandchildren; Ty Gunter, Zackary Cate, Gabrielle Cate, Joshua Cate, and Grace Cate.

Pallbearers will be David Henson, Randy Patterson, Cletus Hudson, Kenny Bell, A. C. Vincent, and Frank Petray.

Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of law enforcement in Crawford and Sebastian Counties.

The family will visit with friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Monday, June 20th at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
