Funeral Services for Rev. David E. Claydon, age 81 of West Stockholm, NY will be held at 2:30 pm at the Garner Funeral Service in Potsdam on Saturday, May 5, 2012 with the service being performed by the Order of Eastern Star and there will also be a remembrance by family and friends. Mr. Claydon will be buried at the Greenfield Center Cemetery in Greenfield Center, New York at a later date. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Saturday from 1-2:30. Rev. Claydon is survived by his loving wife Dylia Claydon; his daughter Dominique (Robert) LaVoie of West Stockholm; his son Christian (Amber) Claydon on Corinth, New York; his grandchildren Erin LaVoie, Aeriel Claydon, Noelle LaVoie, Skyler Claydon and Zoe Claydon; his sisters Patricia Kutchker and Jean Moran and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Polly Banach and Marilyn Claydon.
David E. Claydon was born on March 26, 1931 in Greenfield Center, New York to the late Hermon and Dorothy Blodgett Claydon. He was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School. He received his Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Ithaca College, his Associate's Degree from George Washington University and his Master's Degree of Divinity from McGill University. On October 24, 1959 he was married to Dylia Lanoue.
Mr. Claydon was retiree from the United States Navy retiring with over 22 years of service. He then focused his life on ministry. Mr. and Mrs. Claydon lived all over the North Country for the past 25 years. They ended up retiring in West Stockholm after he had served the Methodist Parishes in both West Stockholm and Parishville. He was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, The American Legion, The Masonic Lodge, Veterans for Peace, and he was the National Chaplain for AMRA (American Military Retirees Association.) David loved music, theatre, literature and he was a people person. He had a keen sense of humor and loved to laugh. He was a wonderful husband and friend and will be dearly missed by all.
