David Koski was born November 9, 1949 in Flint, Michigan, a beloved only child of Harold and Eleanor Koski who predeceased him in 1988 and 2012, respectively. He spent his early years inquisitive about the world, exploring with his parents and learning values of service and caring for others. David graduated high school, earned an undergraduate degree from Albion College and made the decision to become an ordained United Methodist minister. He earned a Masters in Divinity from Boston University School of Theology in 1972. He started his career in the ministry in the Detroit Conference of the United Methodist Church (UMC) as an associate pastor of Aldersgate in Detroit, MI and moved to Laingsburg, MI in 1977. Here he had a two point charge along with Middlebury UMC; his ministry of caring for others flourished and he developed friendships that would follow him throughout his life. As United Methodist ministers do, he moved on to serve several churches in the Detroit Conference prior to his retirement in 2008 with his last assignment at Faith UMC in Coleman, MI. He kept in contact with several college friends and clergy colleagues over the years.

David loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit every state in the union, and explore every continent of the world, traveling to Europe and participating in countless Rhode Scholar tours. His planning and preparation was a hallmark of the adventure and with daily journaling he could recount every detail. In addition to his deep abiding faith and love of travel, he enjoyed opera, plays, educational lectures, and was an avid reader. After his retirement he became an MSU football and basketball fan and could often be found at the Steve Forrest home watching games with Aunt Katie and the family.

David will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially the Forrest family, Steve and Kathy and their daughters Emily and Maria who called him "Uncle David". Their friendship started in Laingsburg and continued for decades.

A memorial service and celebration of Reverend David Koski's life will take place Saturday, May 10, 2014 at University UMC, East Lansing, MI, with Reverends Jennifer Browne and William Chu officiating. Visitation will begin at 1pm at the church; service at 2pm, with a luncheon to follow.

Memorial contributions can be made to the University UMC "Good Samaritan Fund" or a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements were handled by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing Chapel.
