David Louis McDougald entered into eternal rest on July 15, 2013. He was the son of the late Maggie Mitchell McDougald and John McDougald. He married Barbara Pulliam McDougald on February 22, 1975.

He was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. He attended Burgaw High School and grew up attending Antioch Fire Baptized Holiness Church. Throughout his life he assisted in service with many churches in Onslow County, NC, and many other states. He was a loved Minister of Music and Deacon at the Shekinah Glory Fully Gospel Ministries, Inc. Until his health declined he was a member and musician at River of Life Church. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1975 and upon honorable discharge in 1988, became an employee of the US Postal Service. He retired from the USPS in January of 2013.

David had a true gift and anointing for music. While being blessed to play several instruments he loved playing the guitar. He was a musician for several groups, quartets, and choirs. Some including the Singing Sons of Buffalo, the Inspirational Souls, and the Trenton All Stars. As he traveled the world many were blessed by his gift. He was not a man of many words but his music truly spoke the words of his heart.

He was the loving, devoted husband to Mrs. Barbara McDougald and an amazing father of four. Three sons, Anthony, Jai, and Alexander, and one daughter, Shatara. He was also a loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Maggie McDougald, and brother Michael McDougald. He also leaves to cherish his memory three sisters and two brother in laws; Beverly (Timmy) Wells, Gwendolyn (Irving) McDougald - Barnes, Antoinette McDougald, all of Buffalo, NY. Also remaining dear to his heart were sister in laws Doris Miles (late), Vera McCollum, Hattie Jenkins, Mary Lou (Leon) Jefferies, brother in law Preston Pulliam, and many loving nieces and nephews.

David was a man of honor, excellence, and dilligence. He was a comedian in his own right and was known to tell a joke, making you smile, and leaving a lasting impression. He had an impeccable knack for fashion and always stepped out looking his best. We know he stepped into Heaven and accepted his white robe with a smile, finally hearing well done and being free from all hurt, harm, and pain.

A visitation for David will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville on Sunday evening, 07/28/13, from 7:30PM until 9 PM. A graveside service for David will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at 10:00 AM at Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery.
