Dave was born in Danville, Ill., attended public schools in Bradenton, FL, and graduated from the University of Florida with the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and later earned the Master of religious education from Southwestern Baptist Seminary and the Doctor of Education from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). He was Director of Public Relations at Mississippi College, was a staff member at Southwestern Baptist Seminary, and served under Dr. A. Hamilton Reid and Dr. George E. Bagley as Public Relations Director at the Alabama Baptist State Executive Board (now State Board of Missions). Dr. Morris served as Director of Development at Huntingdon College in Montgomery for 20 years. He received national honors for his writing and production of an original TV ad series, "Mainstream." His professional associations included Baptist Public Relations Association (President), Society of Fund Raising Executives, Public Relations Society of America, the Public Relations Council of Alabama, and the Delta Kappa Gamma education fraternity. Dr. Morris served several higher education groups, including Alabama Consortium for the Developmental Higher Education, Council for the Advancement of Private Higher Education in Alabama, and Title III Evaluation Group. In Montgomery, he served with the United Way, Montgomery Area Council for the Aging, and was designated Distinguished President by the Good Morning Montgomery Kiwanis Club.
Dave loved life, his family, friends, and gardening, fishing, and hunting… but most of all his Lord Jesus Christ. He enthusiastically served Christ in his church, First Baptist Church of Montgomery for 55 years in many capacities, including Sunday School Director, deacon and many committees.
