David Emerson Moulton, age 62 of Randolph, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Akron City Hospital.

He was born September 14, 1950, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Charles O. and Gertrude E. (Kuss) Moulton. Dave grew up on the family farm in Rootstown and was a member of St. Peter of the Fields Parish. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and later a founding member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1954.

Dave graduated from Rootstown High School, Class of 1968. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Education from the Ohio State University and later received his Master's Degree from Kent State University. Dave taught vocational agriculture at the Maplewood Career Center from 1975 – 2002. There, he was instrumental in establishing the maple syrup sales program. After his official retirement, Dave began working at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home and Quality Enhancement Construction. Farming was always Dave's legacy, whether working on the family farm or farming for Don Smith.

Dave was extremely active in the community, being named the Rootstown Lion's Club Citizen of the Year in 2011. He coached wrestling at Waterloo Local Schools and wrestling and football at Rootstown High School. Dave was also active in the Rootstown Chamber of Commerce, the Portage County Boys and Girls Club, and 4-H, where he enjoyed helping his granddaughter with her horses. Around the holidays, you could always count on Dave showing up at some community event dressed as Santa Claus.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years and high school sweetheart, Connie (Lemon) Moulton, and their three children: Jason David Moulton, Angela Kay Moulton, and Jeremy Charles (Mindy) Moulton. Papaw's memory will be cherished by his granddaughter Jenna Elizabeth Sturm-Moulton and grandson David Charles Moulton, who were the joy of his life. Dave is also survived by his brothers Bill (Debbie) Moulton and Alan (Debbie) Moulton, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends will be received Sunday, December 2, 2012, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna.
