Dr. Murphy was one of my Dad's very best friends in the whole world and I know he (John Grow, Jr.) greeted him in heaven with open arms. I remember the hunting and trail bike trips they would go on and I loved hearing that they would just sing up a storm in the car on the way, with their sons probably silent in the back seat. Dr. Murphy was always so kind, always with a smile on his face, and I can still hear his voice in my head. Our family is praying for peace and comfort for his family and friends. ~Julie Grow Olson

I knew Dr. Murphy for a short time but it made a lasting impact. I met him during May 2008 when Rainbow Bridge/Bessie's Hope hosted their Intergenerational Idols Performance. I had the pleasure of being paired up with Dr. Murphy for a piano and vocal duet. He was a very sweet and caring person. Despite only knowing him for a short time during those months of practice and the performance, I have always remembered this event very clearly. My condolences and prayers to the whole family. Rest in peace Dr. Murphy.

I have so many absolutely fabulous memories of Dave starting in September of 1951 on the Phillips campus when one of my suite mates from Denver made sure we knew the other Denver kids. Dave and I had a bunch of potentially embarrassing encounters in many venue. In retrospect maybe it was a good thing I sat beside him on a basketball trip when he thoroughly expected someone else to sit with him. He was such a gentleman even then! Dave was always so very special.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Murphy in several acting classes at Metropolitan State University of Denver. He also attended many of my plays and often shared with me stories about his performance projects and his beloved family members. He was an extraordinary person who blessed many lives, including my own, and who graced the planet with his many skills and talents. I extend my deepest sympathy. Marilyn (Cookie) Hetzel

To the Murphy family,
It was my pleasure to know Dave so many years at the Southwest recreation center. He delivered Hayden and Maeve to my tumbling class when they were small, and what I will hold especially dear in my memories is the year he dressed up in his snowman outfit, skated throughout the gym with the little tumblers following him as Frosty the snowman played on the stereo. What a special moment in history that was! Please accept my sincere condolences for I cannot make it to the memorial, but my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Aunt Kaye and cousins-in-law. I am so sorry for the grief you must be feeling. Dave had a very long battle but how blessed to have all of you helping and comforting him every inch of the way. Your tenderness was so very touching! Uncle Dave was always sweet and kind and interesting to talk with. He made the world a better place, but I think he will make Heaven a better place too.
