THOMAS, David Michael Osborne
It is with enormous sadness that we announce the passing of David Thomas on Wednesday, August 13th, 2014. He left us in the same way he lived his life, quietly and gently in the late afternoon.
David was the middle child of the late Edna and Harold Thomas and the beloved brother of Noel (Carol) and Sonya (late Glen). Brock, J. Willie, Laurie and Glenna will remember him as a wonderful mentor and role model. He loved his role as uncle to Thomas, Munro and Bond clans. He was a constant support as a brother-in-law to Tricia's family and was a steadfast friend to many.
David's listening and problem solving skills, together with his patience, empathy and understanding were the reasons for his success in the educational field, serving as a teacher, a math consultant and principal in the East York School System for many years.
Taking early retirement, he turned his talents to hobby farming, spending many wonderful years as the master of Pine Haven, a tree farm in Omemee.
Our gentle guy enjoyed 84 active and fulfilling years, 34 of which he spent with his soul mate and best pal, Tricia. David was a long time member of the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club and Mayfair Lakeshore Racquet Club and spent many, many hours on the fairways of Parkview Golf Club. But his heart belonged in The Beach and so we ask all who knew and loved this gentle lovely man to join us for a Celebration of his life on Thursday, September 4th at the Balmy Beach Club, {foot of Beech Ave} from 2 – 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in memory of David to the Toronto East General Oncology Department {tegh.foundations.ca} or the Myeloma Canada {www.myeloma.ca}

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved still missed and very dear. "
David will watch over the loved ones as he always did. His void in the family can never be filled. I wish him comfort in the arms of the angels ...

Very sad. Dave was a quiet, gentle, classy guy. Played squash with him for many years at TLTC. Doubt I ever won, but always enjoyed his company. Sorry I will be out of the country Sept 4 when celebration of his life is being held. Condolences to Tricia and families. RIP Dave.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of David. My heartfelt condolences to Tricia and to David's family. I had the pleasure of working with David for a number of years at R.H. McGregor school in East York. He truly was a gracious gentleman. He was a mentor to me in my teaching career and I had the utmost respect for him. I also had the pleasure in working alongside Tricia for a number of years and I know what a loving couple David and Tricia were. David was held in high esteem by all who knew him and rightly so. He will be missed. )
