Obituary

After more than eight years apart, our mother has been reunited with our father and they can once again dance. Born December 5, 1923 in Lansing, Dawn graduated from Eastern High School in 1941. She knew Bob Jipson through friends and bumped into him at the Coral Gables one evening while he was home on leave following Army Air Corps boot camp. After only three dates Bob left for Texas before being shipped to Europe to Captain a B-24 bomber. Missing Dawn, he called her, asked her to marry him, and she was on a train to Texas as soon as she was able. On February 2, 1944, in El Paso, Texas, they became Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Jipson, and...

On February 2, 1944, in El Paso, Texas, they became Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Jipson, and were married for 62 years before Bob's passing in 2006. Their only time apart was the time Bob spent overseas as a pilot, then as MIA after his plane was shot down, and finally a POW until the end of World War II. They loved to dance, and enjoyed golf, and playing cards. They were blessed with good health and enjoyed over 20 years of retirement together, most of it spent in their condo in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Dawn and Bob were predeceased by their parents and Bob's brothers John and William. Nephew Greg Jipson predeceased Dawn.
Dawn is survived by her son Martin (Grace) Jipson; daughter Shelley (Michael) Lomax; grandchildren Jason Burkholder, Mitchell (Heather) Burkholder, Sara Jipson, Lindsay (Justin) Kobolt; and great-grandchildren Logan Burkholder, Laney Burkholder, Noland Burkholder, Carson Kobolt, and Mallory Kobolt;special niece Gail Jipson, niece Gina Jipson, and nephew Grant Jipson. Also surviving are dear friends Marguerite Taylor, Bud and Donna Gross, Ruth Renaud, Joy Tubaugh, and Betty DelDin.
Above all else, the love of family and friends were most precious to Dawn, and the memories she created for her family will be cherished forever.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Ensberg for his unending devotion to our mother. Thank you too to the wonderful caregivers at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 6, at 11:00 am at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing with the Rev. Andrew Pomerville officiating.
