Dawn Stewart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 9, 2012.

Dawn Juna Stewart, age 45, of Marietta, GA, went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2012. Her parents moved from North Carolina to Georgia when she was two years old. She was a graduate of North Cobb High School and the University of Georgia, where she received a BA in Graphic Design. She worked in New York City after 9/11 and in Washington, DC after hurricane Katrina in the Public Relations Center. Dawn is survived by her mother and stepfather, Mr. & Mrs. George L. Dozier; her father and stepmother, Mr. & Mrs. W. Roger Stewart. Dawn had one brother, Roger Stewart, Jr., whom she lovingly called "Roggie." He and his wife, Paula, have a boy, Dillon, and twin girls, Hannah and Taylor. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 6pm until 8pm at Winkenhofer Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm with Rev. Wendell Baggett and Rev. Chuck Baggett officiating. Burial will follow in the Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. www.americanredcross.org

Dawn was one of my earliest and dearest friends when I volunteered for the American Red Cross. During hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008, she worked in Washington while I spent 21 days on the Gulf Coast. She stayed in my condo, taking care of my two cats. After three weeks of watching Dawn with her laptop and iPhone, my tomcat Popeye wanted his own keyboard. He was in heaven to meet Dawn.
