Denison - Dean Johnson, 61, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, Texas 75090 with Rev. Bill Ashburn and Rev. Tom Bilderback officiating. There is no scheduled visitation time.

G. Dean Johnson was born December 9, 1948, in Douglas, WY, to Wilda and Dr. E. George Johnson. Dean was active in sports, Key Club, and Student Council at Converse County High School in 1967. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1971 with a degree in political science. Following graduation, he was chosen to be a volunteer with the Peace Corp, serving for 27 months in Cameroon, Africa. Dean earned his MBA in International Business from Thunderbird International School of Business in Glendale, AZ.

Dean's career in international construction and mining equipment sales began with Bucyrus Erie Company in Milwaukee, WI, in 1974. Dean traveled to war-torn Beirut, Lebanon, to adopt Melanie in 1983. Melanie's sister, Brittany, was adopted in Wyoming in 1984. Dean loved his girls dearly and was proud to walk each of them down the aisle when Melanie married Hyatt Harper and Brittany married Kris Baxter.

Dean Johnson married Donna Skaggs on December 20, 1997. Donna was blessed by having the best husband who became her best friend. His humor, intelligence, and compassion were characteristics all who knew him loved.

With an MBA with International Specialty, Dean worked primarily in the heavy equipment sales and traveled extensively until 9-11. Donna asked for Dean to please change to domestic sales and happened to have the opportunity to begin working for Continental Equipment at the time. Most recently Dean began consultations for several top consultation firms and enjoyed the work immensely.

Dean and Donna enjoyed a simple life together and spending time together was the most important thing in this world, other than sharing time with their English Mastiff, Rafe.

Dean was survived by his spouse, Donna Skaggs Johnson, of Denison, TX; his daughters and their husbands, Melanie and Hyatt Harper of Richfield, MN, and Brittany and Kris Baxter of the San Jose area of CA; his mother, Wilda Johnson Macy and siblings, Beth (Mal) Wagstaff, and Brad (Joy) Johnson of Douglas, WY; sibling Jann (Mark) Johnson of Longmont, CO.; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law on both sides of the family.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.

Dean maintained friendships around the globe and the outpouring of condolences filled with love has humbled his family and warmed her heart in such a time of need. Thank you to all. Godspeed Dean – tell everyone hello until we see all again.
