Deborah CALVIN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 9, 2017.

Deborah Lynn Calvin, 51, of Aurora, passed away on September 7, 2017 in Aurora, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert. Debbie is survived by her sons, Andrew and Josh; mother, Deanna; brother, Steven; and many other family members and friends.
She will be remembered by most as a Sherriff's Deputy, which she was for the last 8 years for Arapahoe County; to some as an avid golfer, fly fisher and traveler - her favorite places to date were New York , the two River Cruises she took in Europe and her many trips to Las Vegas; and by her sons as the World's Best Mother, best green chili, guacamole and dessert maker. However you knew Debbie, you did know she would go out of her way, and put what she had on hold, to help others.
Debbie was handy, the Queen of Home Depot, lover of dragonflies, and totally lived for her boys. She also made an excellent martini. Debbie will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 14th at 1pm at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, CO.

Debbie & I worked together, but we also golfed together. One day, Debbie was having a great game & knocked the ball a good distance. Meanwhile, I was taking the course 5 yards at a time! Debbie was walking along encouraging me & then received a call from one of her boys. So while I continued down the fairway, she had the opportunity to talk to & guide her sweet son. That was the essence of my sweet friend....she was always encouraging to everyone around her & loved her boys with all her heart.
I, too, have lost my mother. I want Andrew & Josh to know, in those moments where you feel lost & have any dilemma, just think about what your sweet mama would tell you...she's there & she's listening.

I am saddened beyond words by the passing of my friend, Deb. Deb and I were co-workers at Aurora Family Vision for many years. We became the best of friends. We shared so many life experiences together. When my husband passed away, she was my rock. She was such a comfort to me, always ready to help. I will always be grateful to her . We enjoyed so many things together, including fly fishing. We even got matching dragonfly tattoos. She was the Best Mom Ever to her sons, Drew and Josh. They could always count on her unconditional love. My heart breaks for them. Though you are gone too soon, I will always have my memories of our time together. Nothing can take that away. Bless you Deb, and Dragonflies Forever!

Words cannot express how sad I feel about losing Deb. She was my little sister in so many ways. Her smile would always warm my heart. She was always willing to help, even if the request was really dumb. I will miss her forever and she will always be in my heart. What a terrible loss to us all.

It is so hard to write this as I keep wanting to believe Deb is still with us. She was one of the kindest, warmest, most giving person I've ever known. Her smile would light a room and her heart was as big as all outdoors. To say that she will be missed is the understatement of the century. My sympathy goes out to all who knew her because we have all suffered a terrible loss. Love you always Deb.

I am privileged to have been Debs friend. We enjoyed travelling together, especially our driving trips to and from Vegas. She would drive me nuts whooping and hollering with excitement throughout the drive. Id give anything to hear that again. We spent a lot of time just talking and these trips allowed her to finally sleep while riding in the car. The girl worked so much and helped so many people that shed be lucky to get a few hours of sleep who needs sleep, shed say. Lets just get done what we need to.
We worked on many tasks, chores and projects together. Ive never had so much fun working with somebody. She was always happy to do it, joked around and wanted to do the best job possible. She never sat still. Shed be up first thing in the morning taking care of some of the tasks that needed done before the rest of us got up. The thrill on her face when we said we had to go to Home Depot was priceless again, more whooping and hollering. Youd mention that someone was moving or you were going to help somebody and shed want to be right there with you. No hesitation, it was going to happen. I learned so much from her; she was a great, patient teacher. We joked about opening our own Home Service Company D&H Services.
She single handily got Joshs home ready to sell. Shed get off work at 5:00 pm, drive to the Springs and work until she had to drive back and get up in the morning to work again. Deb made everything happen for her mother when she had to move as well. From physically moving her to helping her financially and being there for support, that was Deb. Nobody will ever really know how much Deb did for everyone else.
Ill miss her more than words can say. Ill never do a chore without thinking about her or walk into a hardware store and not think of her I know shell be with me. Im so glad she was with friends on Labor Day (shocking that she wasnt working) and came over a few times after to have a beer with me. She was truly an amazing, caring, thoughtful, smart and dear friend. I am so happy to have had her as part of my life. Love you, Deb!

You will be missed, I cant say enough about your work ethic, your willingness to help others and you listened. Your smile was amazing, even if I was angry you made me smile, even when I did not want to. You were blunt as I am, so I loved that about you, the truth always. love always

I worked with Deb for many years and was blessed to have known her. We had some things in common such as being born in November and both loving dragonflies. Our talks were mainly about our son's and the military. She was a proud mom who cherished her children. I loved how genuine she was plus her pretty smile. There's no doubt that she is resting peacefully in heaven with our Lord. You're dearly missed Deb.

Deb was always one of those little rays of sunshine whose presence left you with a smile on your face. May the Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

I never once saw Deb without a smile on her face at Arapahoe County, where we worked together. She was kind and friendly to everyone she met. Deb was a hard worker that co-workers and supervisors alike, could always count on. She loved her sons so very much, and would talk about them with a mother's pride. Deb was such a special person, and I will miss her dearly. We will all miss her. She has left us far too soon. Rest in peace sweet Deb.

This woman would do anything for you. She would get off work at 5:30 in the morning and show up to help you move at 8:00. All with a giant smile. I have especially fond memories of her when 8 of us took a river cruise to celebrate our 'decades' birthdays. She entertained us with her 'bug dance'. Of course there may have been an adult beverage involved. RIP Deb- You were a very kind woman.

I am so sadden by her lose to her sons, mother and brother. I've know Debbie for years from the optical industry and always looked forward to her warm, friendly smile when I would see her. I lost touch over the years but was so delighted to be reacquainted with her through her dear mother, Deanna who lives in my building in Heather Gardens. She was an exceptional lady and will be so missed. May Gods comfort be with Debbie's family.

I met Debbie 25 years ago when we worked together at Spectrum Opticians. We became fast friends. She was one of the best 'Old School' opticians I've ever worked with. Later we worked together at Arapahoe Count Jail - where she excelled and became a respected Deputy. Most recently I worked with Deb at Highline Vision. She always made people happy just by walking in the door with her beautiful smile and happy demeanor. I loved hearing of all the things she always had going on. Always there to do whatever she could for a friend. Best of all was hearing of how much she loved her 'boys' who she raised into fine young men. We used to do a Christmas baking party and you could count on Deb bringing 'haystacks'. Deb was a kind, loving, enthusiastic lover of life. I'll miss you "Little Debbie". Love Deanne Derrevere
