Obituary

Delbert James Barnes,86, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Bell Cemetery in Odell, Texas at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 in the evening on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the funeral home. Delbert was born August 4, 1927 in Odell, Texas to Wilburn and Lessie (Martin) Barnes. Delbert was born August 4, 1927 in Odell, Texas to Wilburn and Lessie (Martin) Barnes. He moved to Wichita Falls in his teens and went to Wichita Falls High School. Delbert enlisted in the US Navy in 1945. After his service in the Navy he went to work for the M.K.T. Railroad. He met and married the love of his life, Betty Ruth Trout on February 23, 1949. Delbert lived and worked in southern California for 25 years retiring from Productol Oil in 1978. The family then returned to Texas and lived in Ringgold for 20 years. He went to work for PPG and retired from there in 1989. Delbert was a wonderful husband and family man. He was loved by everyone that knew him.

Delbert is preceded in death by his parents, siblings; W.T., Clyde and Arlice, and one son Monte.

He is survived by his wife; Betty, children; Mamie Richison and husband Edwin, Debra Lightell and Lonnie Sr., sister; Jewell Bowden and husband J.W., 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
