Delbert L. Ohrt, 78, of Manchester, died Friday March 21, 2014 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on July 12, 1935 in Blackhawk County, IA the son of Herbert and Lutishia (Holdaway) Ohrt and was educated in the local school system. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and served aboard the USS Princeton. He moved to New Hampshire in 1969 where he attended the former New Hampshire College (SNHU) graduating with high honors. He was employed as a radar supervisor at the New Boston Tracking Station until he retired in 1993. Del was not one to sit back and relax, even in his retirement and spent his time working...
Delbert L. Ohrt, 78, of Manchester, died Friday March 21, 2014 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on July 12, 1935 in Blackhawk County, IA the son of Herbert and Lutishia (Holdaway) Ohrt and was educated in the local school system.

He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and served aboard the USS Princeton. He moved to New Hampshire in 1969 where he attended the former New Hampshire College (SNHU) graduating with high honors. He was employed as a radar supervisor at the New Boston Tracking Station until he retired in 1993.

Del was not one to sit back and relax, even in his retirement and spent his time working on his computer, solving sudoku and crossword puzzles, reading and studying geneology but most of all he loved spoiling his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was predeceased by his brothers Donald Ohrt and Dale Ohrt.

Members of his family include his wife of 50 years Patricia B. Ohrt, his two sons Lyle Ohrt and his wife Jennifer and Joseph Ohrt and his two grandchildren Lauren Ohrt and Jacob Ohrt all of Manchester as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held on Wednesday March 26 from 4-7PM at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. A Funeral Service was celebrated on Thursday March 27 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church 961 Valley St. in Manchester. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Del's name to the First United Methodist Church.
