A native of Jacksonville, she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and earned a BA in Sociology and Psychology from Tift College.
Deleah and Bobby met while in high school and were married in 1966. She was an elementary school teacher for 18 years in Gainesville, St. Augustine and Jacksonville. In 1979, she was Teacher of the Year in St. John's County. After her teaching career, she was named the executive coordinator for the Jacksonville Symphony's First Coast Nutcracker Ballet, a position she held for 12 years, retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Junior League of Jacksonville, a TPC volunteer and Gator Booster. Deleah loved her girls, three daughters and four granddaughters, and devoted much of her time to activities in which they were involved. She enjoyed spending time at the family's mountain home in the North Georgia mountains.
She will be remembered as a kind, gentle lady of great faith and graciousness. Donations in her name should be made to Communities In Schools of Jacksonville, 1 Riverside Ave Suite 400, Jacksonville, Fl 32202 or CISjax.org. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 30 at 2 pm at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, with a reception to follow in the Schiavone Parish Hall.
