Delores “Dolly” delaHoussaye Clesi passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the age of 86. Dolly was born in Los Angeles, CA but spent most of her life in Louisiana. She graduated from Sophie B. Wright School in New Orleans and attended both Tulane University and LSU. Dolly and Frank celebrated their marriage in 1950 in New Orleans and moved to Baton Rouge in 1955.
Dolly was a devoted wife and mother who spent much of her life volunteering in her beloved city of Baton Rouge. Her volunteer organizations included: the Jaycee Janes (Junior Chamber of Commerce), Baton Rouge Symphony Auxiliary, Red Cross, Baton Rouge Art League, CCLA Garden Club. She also served as president of the Volunteers of America Auxiliary.
Dolly and Frank were avid LSU fans and enjoyed football games, social activities and travel with their lifelong friends and family. She particularly enjoyed the friendship of the Luncheon Club which has met once a month for lunch for the last 60 years. She also enjoyed everything about her home town of New Orleans including Mardi Gras, the majestic homes and the wonderful history of the city. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Frank Joseph Clesi; father, Henry Maglione delaHoussaye; mother, Stella Bellot Prejean; step-father, Andrew Broussard Prejean; brothers, Kenneth Andrew Prejean, Henry delaHoussaye Jr. and grandson Tony Fertitta. She is survived by daughters Francesca “Frankie” Clesi and Andrea Clesi McMakin and son-in-law Charles Wallace McMakin. She is also survived by sisters Lottie Fay Bueche, Dianne delaHoussaye and Bobbie Jean Huffstetler and brother Brian delaHoussaye. Dolly is also survived by her loving grandchildren; Nicholas C. Nesbit, Wallace George Nesbit IV (Melissa), Meredith Cranch, Jordan Cranch, Emily McMakin and Dixon McMakin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, La 70124 on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 10AM till 1PM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
