Delores S. "Dee" Ayers, age 85 of Hamilton, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was born January 10, 1929 in Morgan Township, daughter of the late Edward and Amy (Thomas) Skjoldager.

Dee was a 1947 graduate of Hamilton High School and Butler Co. Business College and employed 16 years at Herring Hall Marvin, 2 years as an Executive Secretary at B.G. Danis in Dayton and 2 years as an Executive Secretary at Mosler Safe Co.

She was an active member of Lindenwald Christian and First United Methodist Churches and served in numerous capacities; was a member and past President of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and American Business Women's Association, receiving the "Woman of the Year Award" in 1961.

On June 8, 1967 Dee married Donald E. Ayers and helped him raise his three young children, seeing them graduate college and then have families of their own. She was very proud of all of their accomplishments. As a stay-at-home mom, Dee volunteered at Mercy and Fort Hamilton Hospitals and served as President of Lindenwald Kiwanis Auxiliary, of which Don was a member.

Don and Dee moved to Bradenton, FL in 1986, where she worked part-time for 10 years as an Executive Secretary for Freedom Village Retirement Community. They were active members of the First United Methodist Church, played golf and walked the beaches with all their new friends.

In 1998, they built a home in Hamilton, moving back and spending winters only in Winter Haven, FL. While in Hamilton, she was a member of The Presbyterian Church Hannah Circle, Morgan Township Historical Society and volunteered at Berkeley's Lamplighter's Gift Shoppe.

Dee was a loving wife, stepmother and grandmother, and enjoyed many friends and life-long friends, Beverly Proctor and Jack and Phyllis Terry. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her little dog Lulu, one of six small dogs she raised over the years.

Dee is survived by her husband, Don; stepchildren, Mary (Ayers) Howard and Gregory (Paula) Ayers; daughter-in-law, Patricia Ayers; grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Howard, Ryan, Cady and Halie Ayers; and Zachary Ayers; sisters, Hilda Tincher and Shirley Randall; sister-in-law, Barbara Ayers; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepson, D. Scott Ayers; brothers-in-law, Les Tincher, Frank Randall II, Earl Ayers, "Skip" Ayers and Richard Davis; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Davis and Ruth Ayers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 11:30am until 1:30pm at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Grant Montgomery and Rev. John Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Dee's name to Animal Friends Humane Society, 1820 Princeton Road, Hamilton, OH 45011.
