Delores Berry was born on June 20, 1936 in Bessemer, Alabama to J.W and Lillian McGowan. She was the younger of two girls. Delores, a.k.a. Lois, attended Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in Muscoda Alabama and confessed Christ at an early age. Delores married Benny Berry relocated to Detroit Michigan in where they bore 2 daughters; Gina Yvette Bowser and Barrie' Machita Berry.
After years of being an at home mom Delores decided to pursue a career. She worked at Sander's Candy Factory for a number of years where she developed her passion for baking. But as it would be, Delores decided to follow her dream of becoming a Cosmetologist. She worked at Hudson's Department Store for several years as a cosmetologist until her daughter persuaded her to work with her at Gina & Company Hair Salon in Inkster, Michigan. Delores and Gina worked together until her diagnosis of breast cancer in 2012.
Delores was a great cook. The skills from working in Sander's Candy Factory and her southern hospitality created the "best" cinnamon rolls, dutch apple pie, sweet potato pies, homemade rolls, secret kiss cookies, candies, and of course fried chicken. Her kitchen was always open.
Delores is loved and adored by all; she is survived by her daughters Gina Y. Bowser, Barrie M. Berry, Brent Lee Clemons (grandson I), Bryce Marcel Clemons (grandson II), Kate Alice McGowan (sister), Patrick Taylor (brother) Donnie Bowser (#1 son-n-law). She also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends. Her father and mother preceded her in death.
Delores, Lois, Ma, and Nana will be remembered for her abundance of giving to others and the enormous love she had for her grandsons. They were why she breathed each day. As most of you know Brent, Bryce and Nana was a threesome; they were thick as thieves. We thank them for giving our mother the joy only a Grandmother can know.
Her passing has left a void that can never be filled. We will miss her but we know that she is in a better place, resting in the bosom of Jesus.
Ma we love you and will miss you. We could never begin to say good-bye in one day so this is so long for now; talk with you later. I promise your "suffering" will not be in vain.

Gina and Barrie,
I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother. Although it has been many years since I last saw her I will never forget the genuine kindness that she showed me anytime I stopped by the house or saw her in the shop in Inkster. You were truly blessed to have such a special mother in your life. My condolences are with you and your family.
Sincerely,
Mark

Although I believe that the following statement is true: "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord," my heart still aches knowing that she has gone home. I was blessed to know her. After meeting with her once again in Arizona I could sense her wisdom and hear the years of knowledge in her words . I could also hear from her conversation just how much she loved her children and grandchildren. I am thankful that the Lord allowed me to see her loving spirit, and the opportunity to tell her that I loved her. Rest in Peace my friend.

I Remember first seeing her smile that would light up the room when I went to visit her in Detroit with her Daughter Gina and Son-in-law Donnie. She was so warm and kind that I could only think of how blessed Gina(daughter) was to have such an incredible role model in her life. Delores will always be remembered.
