Dennis, 55, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully at home, 9/24/11, surrounded by his wife, Myra, and daughter, Tiffany, after a yearlong courageous battle against brain cancer.
He was born in Fort Mill, SC on September 18, 1956.
Dennis was employed by Windstream as a Coach Monitor. He was an avid member of Mecklenburg Community Church and loved serving in guest services as a volunteer. He was a previous member of University Hills Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and loved singing in the choir. Dennis loved all sports, and loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed eating breakfast at Cracker Barrel, Peanut Butter Milkshakes from Cookout, and coffee from Circle K. His favorite meal was eggs over medium prepared by Tiffany.
Dennis fought a good fight; he remained courageous and loving to the very end, with his last words whispered to his daughter and wife, "I love you." This world is a better place because of Dennis. He was a man of integrity, a man willing to give God complete control, willing to serve others, and willing to love unconditionally. Dennis was willing to put away selfish desires and willing to share his struggles with others, in order to give hope that we all can live victoriously as God intended. Dennis served his fellowman, volunteering for over 10 years on a crisis hotline, intervening and touching many strangers' lives. Dennis thought nothing of going to a friend's aid in the middle of the night, and often stopped to help a stranger in need.
Predeceased by his father, Robert, and survived by his wife Myra, daughter Tiffany Cyr, mother Eunice Adkins, son-in-law Jamie Cyr, grandchildren Adam Cyr and Hannah-Grace Cyr, and many other family and friends.
The family expresses gratitude to all staff of Duke Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Dr. Ippolito, and Dr. Haggstrom (with a special thank you to Michelle), and Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte. Thank you for making a difference in our lives.
A service to celebrate Dennis' life will be held at Independence Hill Baptist Church at 11 a.m.Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Visitation will be in the Family Life Center, room 504, at Independence Hill Baptist Church, Huntersville NC from 9:45 - 10:45. Interment immediately following service at 12:30 p.m. at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Mecklenburg Community Church, Independence Hill Baptist Church (Hearts and Hammers), Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, or Caringbridge.org.

I miss you so very much. You were the most wonderful husband any women could ever want. You were an awesome Dad to Tiffany, and a wonderful pepere to Adam and Hannah-Grace. You truly cherished us, and gave unconditional love. You always looked at the positive side of things, and made the best of all situations. You were my rock.
Even in your illness, you never complained. Your love and concern for others was evident in how you served mankind. I know I was blessed to have been your wife for 32 years. I will see you again in heaven....until then, I'll attempt to carry your message of hope to the world.
I love you, forever and always.
With all my love,

I would like to send my condolences to the family & friends of Dennis. I worked along side of him at Windstream for a few years. Dennis would light up the room with his positive energy, contagious laugh/smile and humble personality. It was very rare to see him without a cup of coffee in hand. Dennis will be truely missed.

I first met Dennis when our families both attended Whiting Avenue Baptist Church. Our shared love of sports made for an instant friendship. I have fond memories of Sunday afternoon basketball and football games and volleyball at our church recreation nights. Dennis had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a practical joke. His fun loving spirit was contagious and he'll be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Myra, Tiffany, Eunice and all the family

Tiffany, what a great man. You are so fortunate to have had him, even if it was a short time on this earth. Cherish your memories, remember all your stories to share with your children as they grow. Love to you and your Mom, Tiff. He is already healed.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to your family. Knowing that God is near to those who are broken hearted, Psalms 36:18, helps me in times of distress and I hope you can find some comfort in this difficult time.
