Dennis "Big D" Clyde Almond, age 57, of Rogers, passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2012. He was born in DeWitt, Arkansas, on April 26, 1955, to the late Stanley and Lou Ella (Benson) Almond.
Dennis attended St. Charles High School and later earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Beautiful Beaver Lake and a career opportunity with Pel-Freez inspired him to move his family to Rogers in 1987. He spent his career in accounting and business management. He was an entrepreneur of numerous business ventures and was currently working with Harris McHaney Property Management.
Big D had a passion for spending time with his family, friends, and pets. He was a compassionate man that overflowed with generosity and he made a lasting impression on all who came in contact with him. His big heart shined through in everything he did, and his expressions of love knew no bounds.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Michael Wright and wife Deanna of Rogers, Stephen Wright and wife Lindsey of Omaha, Neb., Lesley Herr and husband Phil of Bentonville; grandchildren, McKinley, Carson, Mclaren; brothers, Roger Almond and wife Jean of Hot Springs, Jerry Almond and wife Diane of Conway.
A celebration of Big D's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012, in the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor Joe Liles. A reception will follow at the funeral home where stories and memories may be shared.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to the Neighborhood Church, P.O. Box 1461, Bentonville, 72712; or the American Stroke Association (www.strokeassociation.org).
